Step into Legend: The New Year’s Eve Fox Procession
Selling out fast! Experience New Year’s Eve like nowhere else on Earth. Tailor your night with three distinct plans—ranging from a 1.5-hour special seating view with a drink, to an ultimate 3.5-hour journey featuring shrine worship, fox makeup, and a curated sake-pairing dinner. Top it all off with a magical countdown at the shrine. Watch ancient folklore come alive and immerse yourself in a living fairytale.
Two hundred people in kimono and fox masks carry lanterns from Shozoku Inari to Oji Shrine as the year turns. It comes from a Hiroshige print and almost no foreign visitor knows it happens. We have a government-permitted viewing area right by the shrine.

Three ways to do the night
All three options include the countdown and a celebratory toast at the shrine, entry to our reserved, government-permitted viewing area beside Oji Inari Shrine, and a commemorative gift made for the procession.
A. Complete Experience — 3.5 hours, ¥20,000
A sit-down local dinner with free-flow drinks, and traditional fox face-painting before the procession. For a full evening of it.

B. Standard Experience — 3.5 hours, ¥15,000
Traditional fox face-painting and a guided visit to the shrines, with the history and the rituals explained as you go.

C. Viewing Only — 1.5 hours, ¥10,000
The procession and the countdown, and nothing else. Face-painting, dinner and the guided shrine visit are not included.

Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts. If you book directly with us, we refund the amount paid less the card processing fee. Cancellations within 24 hours of the start, and no-shows, are not refunded.
